Learn about the Work of Hammersmith United Charities

Talk on Thursday hosted by Askew Business Network

How £100 from the 17th century is still going strong in Hammersmith today.

That's the intriguing title of a talk by Melanie Nock of Hammersmith United Charities at Askew Business Network's monthly meeting this Thursday April 17 at The Greyhound, 49 Becklow Road.

Hammersmith United Charities traces its origins to a bequest in 1618 of £100 – in today’s money about £10,000.

The charity owns and runs two almshouses, one being John Betts House in Rylett Road. Their grant making arm supports many local community connected initiatives and particularly those with an emphasis on helping young people who struggle to find employment.

Doors open at 6pm and Melanie will give a short talk at 7pm with general networking before and after. Everyone living or working in the area is welcome to join in.

The Askew Business Network are also holding their regular monthly Grab a Bite Lunch at the Duchess of Cambridge pub at 320 Goldhawk Road on Tuesday April 29 at 12.30pm.

Anyone living or working in the Askew Road area is welcome to come along and entry is free - just order your food or drink at the bar and join in.
