Westfield maternity store in administration

The maternity chain Blooming Marvellous is the latest Westfield store to go into administration.

Blooming Marvellous, which has 14 stores including the Westfield branch, called in administrators MCR on Friday (January 30).

So far, there has been no mention of any store closures or job losses.

"The businesses are currently being traded in administration whilst a sale of the businesses and assets of the companies are pursued as a going concern," say MCR, referring to Blooming Marvellous and The Marvellous Group, another upmarket maternity retailer in administration.

The Icelandic investor Arev bought Blooming Marvellous in 2007 for around £5m.

The brand sells upmarket baby wear and nursery accessories in addition to maternity clothing and accessories.

Most of its turnover is through internet and catalogue sales, although the company's website is currently out of action.

"We are experiencing technical difficulties with our website and ordering systems and are unable to process any orders or queries at the moment," says a notice on the Blooming Marvellous site.
