Police Appeal After Two Fatal Collisions

W12 motorcyclist killed on A3, second motorcyclist killed locally

A motorcyclist from Shepherd’s Bush, who was killed in a collision on the A3, has been named as Paulo Miguel Pereira.

Pereira, who was originally from Portugal, died when his blue Honda CBR motorcycle collided with a blue BMW saloon on Sunday 3 August 2008.

Police were called to the southbound A3, Kingston Bypass at Shannon’s Corner, at just after 09:50am.

An Air Ambulance doctor pronounced the 26-year-old motorcyclist dead at the scene and a post mortem, held at St George’s Hospital in Tooting three days later, gave the cause of death as a broken neck.

The driver of the car, a 94-year-old man, stopped at the scene but was not arrested.

An inquest has been opened and adjourned and traffic officers are now appealing for witnesses to come forward.

In a separate incident, police are also seeking witnesses to another fatal collision involving a motorcycle on the A40 Eastbound, at the Northern Roundabout in W12 on the slip road from the A40.

The accident happened at approximately 02:00 on Saturday 9 August 2008 and the motorcyclist died of injuries received.

Police are particularly keen to speak to the driver of a car that is known to have been very close by at the time, although it may NOT have been involved in the actual collision. This is believed to be an orange coloured Toyota Supra.

Any witnesses or anyone with any information on either incident can call the dedicated witness line on 020 8941 9011 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
