Trespassers Force Central Line Closure


One man arrested in connection with incident

Commuters faced chaos on the Central line on Monday morning (November 16) after trespassers were spotted on the track.

The line had to be temporarily closed from Marble Arch westwards, while the incident was dealt with.

A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesman said:

"BTP received a report at 5.14am on Monday, 16 November of two men trespassing and causing criminal damage at the depot near to White City London Underground station.

"The power was turned off while police conducted an area search for the suspects and a 24-year-old man from Hammersmith was subsequently arrested on suspicion of criminal damage, obstruction of the railway and trespass.

"He has been bailed to return to police on Tuesday 12 January pending further enquiries.

"Anyone with any information is asked to contact BTP free on 0800 40 50 40, quoting incident number 30 of 16/11/2009. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
