Gun Found By Police At Goldhawk Road Shop

Two men arrested

Two men have been arrested after a loaded handgun was found by police at a Shepherd's Bush shop.

The weapon was uncovered on Wednesday March 17, when police raided a barber's shop in Goldhawk Road.

The gun was found concealed inside a laundry basket in a bedsit attached to the shop premises. Drugs and stolen property were also uncovered.

Detective Sergeant Simon Rogers from the Hammersmith & Fulham Police said:" This was an excellent result which shows how committed we are to tackling drugs and gun crime
on Hammersmith & Fulham Borough. To remove these criminals’ firearm from the streets is particularly satisfying and rewarding."

The raid was carried out by Hammersmith & Fulham Drugs Squad together with officers from the Shepherd's Bush 24/7 Safer Neighbourhoods Team.

Cllr Greg Smith, Cabinet Member for Crime and Street Scene, said: "This kind of result shows exactly why we fund the drugs squad and 24/7 safer neighbourhoods teams. We are determined to make the streets of Hammersmith & Fulham as crime free as possible and applaud the police for taking this potentially lethal weapon out of the hands of criminals. We will be continuing to spend heavily on the drugs squad and ensuring that there are more bobbies on the beat so that we can achieve more results just like this."

Both men, aged 47 and 50, are currently in custody at Fulham Police Station.
