Borough Commander Reassures Public after Schoolgirl's Attempted Abduction

Extra officers on patrol after incident in Wood Lane

Borough Commander Lucy D'Orsi has moved to reassure local parents after the attempted abduction of a teenage girl in Wood Lane.

Writing on her regular blog the Borough Commander says:
" I am aware that many people are concerned about the attempted abduction of a teenage schoolgirl in Wood Lane on Tuesday at approximately 6pm.

"I would like to reassure you that we have been working closely with the Director of Children’s Services to ensure all Head Teachers are fully aware of the circumstances. I am grateful to the Borough’s Head Teacher’s who have actively discussed the situation with pupils and have provided good safety advice. I am also aware that messages have been sent to parents.

" Detectives employed on this case are exploring all investigative leads available. Extra officers will be on patrol at key times to provide reassurance.

The young victim is reportedly traumatised following the incident, which happened on Tuesday October 9. Police are not revealing any further details at the moment.

Lucy D'Orsi also offers this advice to local students: " My message is exactly that which I was given many years ago when at school. Do not speak to strangers, do not get into strangers cars.

" My 2012 additional comment is do not be so engrossed on mobiles, blackberry’s etc that you are unaware of what is going on around you. If you see anything suspicious at all call 999. Your local officers want to hear from you."
