Man Charged in Askew Road Shooting Investigation


18-year-old Hanad Mohamed faces murder and robbery charges

A man has been charged with murder by detectives arrested investigating the fatal shooting of a man on Askew Road.

18-year-old man Hanad Mohamed, of Parlaunt Road, Slough was charged on Thursday, 27 October with the murder of 28-year-old Ionut Lazar on Saturday, 22 October.

He was also charged with one count of robbery on a second male committed on the same day.

Man Stabbed to Death on Askew Road

Mohamed appeared in custody at West London Magistrates' Court on Friday, 28 October and was remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on Monday, 31 October.

A second male aged 17 was arrested in west London on Thursday, 27 October on suspicion of murder but has been released with no further action to be taken.

Ionut Lazar, wasa Romanian national who arrived in the country just two days before his death. His next of kin have been informed and, although formal identification has not taken place, police are satisfied they have named him correctly.

The post mortem on Monday showed that Mr Lazar was shot rather than stabbed as police had initially believed.

Police were called to the scene by paramedics at approximately 2.40am when they found Mr Lazar unconscious. He was later pronounced dead at the scene. St. Elmo Road and Becklow Road were both cordoned off with police tape info Saturday afternoon as forensic officers searched the area.

Staff at Nisa Local in Askew Road were reported in the Evening Standard as saying they saw a "badly beaten" man rushing into the store sometime after 2am on Saturday.
