Teenager Latest Arrest in Alexander Kareem Murder Case

A teenager has become the eighth person to be arrested in connection with the shooting of Alexander Kareem.
The 17-year-old male from Ealing was detained on suspicion of murder and taken to a London police station where he was bailed to return later this month.
Seven other suspects were arrested in early morning raids across west London on Tuesday 4 August. They include three men aged from 18-23 and one minor aged 16 from Ealing borough along with a 35-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man from Hounslow borough and a 24-year-old man from Brent. All seven have been bailed to dates in mid to late August.
The police have described the arrests as a significant development in the investigation into the murder of Alexander Kareem in Shepherd’s Bush on 8 June. The 20-year-old, who had no association with gangs or criminality and had been due to go to university, was making a late night trip on his scooter to a convenience store when he was shot. The detectives investigating the case are working on the basis it was a case of mistaken identity.
A white Range Rover Evoque was captured on CCTV passing by the scene of the shooting and was found 25 minutes later burnt out on Ascott Avenue, Ealing.
Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Jolley, Specialist Crime Team, who leads the investigation said at the time of the first arrests, “This is a significant development in the investigation, however we will not be complacent. We will continue to work hard to make sure those responsible are brought to justice. I believe this murder to have been a case of mistaken identity, perpetrated recklessly and with no regard whatsoever for human life.
“Alexander’s death is a tragic reminder that carrying a gun has devastating consequences, I urge anyone with information to come forward and speak with us.”
