Fire breaks out after JCB hits tower at level crossing near Shepherd’s Bush

Firefighters helped around 80 people leave two trains that were stranded between Willesden Junction and Shepherd’s Bush stations this Monday morning (16 November) when a power cable fell onto the track.

The cable was dislodged when a JCB collided with overhead power cables as it crossed the track at a level crossing causing a small fire.

Station Manager Gareth Cook who was at the scene said, “Firefighters quickly controlled the fire and it was very lucky that the driver of the JCB escaped unhurt.”

Two fire engines North Kensington fire station attended the scene. Firefighters and officers worked alongside the police and Network Rail to help safely disembark the stranded passengers.

The Brigade was called at 10:18am and left the scene at around 12:45pm.
