Lidl Begins Recruiting Staff for New Store at West 12 Centre

Applications now invited for part time day and night time customer assistants

Budget supermarket Lidl has begun recruiting staff or its new store, set to open on the ground floor of the West 12 shopping centre formerly occupied by Morrisons, early in the new year.

The launch will bring a welcome 40 new jobs to the area, and Lidl is now looking for part time Customer Assistants to work both day and night shifts - between 10pm and 6am.

Both roles are for between 25 and 30 hours per week, and Lidl, which is currently fitting out the space in preparation for its launch says applicants should preferably have previous experience in a customer facing role but this is not essential provided you have the right attitude.

It says staff are offered:

£9.75 - £10.76 per hour (subject to experience, includes 10% non contractual London Weighting)
30 days holiday per annum (pro rata, including Bank Holidays)
A contributory pension scheme
10% discount on all Lidl products, in all stores throughout the UK
Access to corporate discounts on a range of products and services (including holidays, home and garden products, leisure activities and more)
Initial training and on-going development from an experienced team member
Brilliant opportunities to take on more responsibility and long term career prospects

As we first revealed in July, Lidl indicated its intentions to take over the site, units 1-2 vacated by Morrisons last November, by applying to H&F Council for a premises licence.

A month later the council showed its approval, saying idl was "poised to announce it will the anchor retailer in the shopping centre" and adding that the anticipated announcement had been welcomed by other retailers in the centre as well as residents.

In September the German supermarket chain officially announced it will be moving in, with Shane O’Farrell, regional head of property at Lidl UK, saying: “We are delighted to be opening a new store in Shepherd’s Bush, which marks another milestone in our ambitious store expansion programme.

"We’ve seen incredible demand for Lidl stores across the country and look forward to offering our quality products and incredible value to shoppers in the near future."

The news follows the company's announcement in May that it was hunting for suitable sites across London.

At the time, regional property director Richard Taylor said: “We have extremely ambitious plans for our London expansion and aim to open as many stores as possible each year."
