Linford Christie Centre Set for Revamp

Wormwood Scrubs sport facilities to be upgraded

The Linford Christie Outdoor Sports Centre at Wormwood Scrubs is set for a refurbishment.

Hammersmith & Fulham Council says it will spend £160,000
on a whole raft of improvements.

They include upgraded changing rooms, enhanced floodlights in the training area, repairs to the athletics track, improved security and a revamped clubroom.

The centre was built in 1967 and is home to many of the borough’s leading sports clubs including the Thames Valley Harriers athletics club and London Nigerian rugby club.

It features, amongst other things, an all-weather eight-lane 400-metre track, a spectator stand and floodlit training facilities.

Cllr Greg Smith, cabinet member for residents’ services says: " “Hammersmith & Fulham is one of the sportiest borough’s in the capital, home to numerous sports clubs.

"Many of the clubs who use the Linford Christie Centre have been calling for improvements for some time and we are delighted that we will now be going ahead with this scheme."
