Arrest Made after Stabbing Near Westfield Shopping Centre


Victim taken to hospital with "non-life-threatening" wounds

A man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm after a stabbing took place in broad daylight closed to Westfield shopping centre.

The victim, believed to be aged in his thirties, was attacked on Sterne Street in Shepherd's Bush just before 5.30pm on August 25.

He was taken to hospital for treatment by paramedics, but his condition was described by police as "non-life-threatening and non-life-changing."

Police say they were called to reports of an assault at the junction with Caxton Road and found the victim suffering from "slash wounds".

London's Air Ambulance was seen landing on Shepherd's Bush Green.

A man was then arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and held in custody at a west London police station.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "Police were called at around 5.30pm to reports of a male stabbed in Caxton Road, W12 near the junction with Sterne Street.

"Officers and LAS attended. The man - believed to be aged around 30 years - was taken to hospital, but his condition is not believed to be serious.

"Detectives from Hammersmith & Fulham are investigating.

"A man was arrested near to the scene on suspicion of GBH.

"He has been taken to a west London police station where he remains in custody."
