CGI of the new flats to be built on Wood Lane
Local people looking for their first homes are being invited to register their interest in Macfarlane Place, which will offer 142 new flats currently being built in Wood Lane, on the site of the former BBC multi-storey car park opposite Westfield.
These flats, which will be managed by Peabody housing association, are the “affordable” part of phase two of Television Centre, to the south of the existing development. The flats will be officially launched next spring, and ready to move into in 2024.
Macfarlane Place will consist of two buildings, containing 68 one bedroom flats, 67 with two bedrooms and seven with three. Of these, 105 flats will be available to rent and 37 for Shared Ownership.
Peabody describes the development as “a stylish collection of one- and two-bedroom apartments available through London Living Rent and Shared Ownership; including spacious wheelchair-adaptable homes.”
Features include contemporary kitchens, modern fittings and fixtures, spacious carpeted bedrooms and private outdoor spaces, plus a landscaped communal podium garden.

The association explains that Shared Ownership is a part buy/part rent scheme, designed as a steppingstone for first time buyers looking to get onto the property ladder.
You can buy an initial share of 25% to 75% of the value of a property, which you can pay for with a mortgage.
You will then pay a subsidised rent on the share you don’t buy and a monthly service charge.
London Living Rent meanwhile is designed for people who want to get onto the property ladder but cannot afford to do so yet.
London Living Rent properties are available at reduced rent costs with the aim of helping people save up to buy their dream home.
To qualify, applicants must meet the following criteria:
These new homes, designed by Maccreanor Lavington Architects, will be surrounded by new public space and new shops on Wood Lane.
Macfarlane Place is part of the second and final phase of the Television City development. This phase will create a total of 511 homes in four separate ‘clusters’, each designed by different architects to be distinctive and have a character of their own.
The other clusters will provide a modern crescent shaped block of 180 flats, a collection of 22 townhouses set around a ‘village green’ and a 25-storey tower offering 167 flats. These will all be sold on the open market, with much higher price ranges.
Construction on these plots is expected to start later this year and development manager Stanhope says when completed, phase two will further open up Television Centre to local residents with the creation of a second entrance on Wood Lane and a pedestrian connection to Hammersmith Park.
