Thousands Of Women Head For The Scrubs

Charity run to raise money for Cancer Research UK

Three thousand women are set to descend on Wormwood Scrubs this July for the borough’s first ever Race for Life.

Organised by Cancer Research UK, Race for Life is the UK’s largest female-only fundraising event and will see women of all ages take part in either five or 10 kilometre fun-runs around the borough's largest green space.

The Wormwood Scrubs run takes place on Saturday July 10 and Cancer Research UK hope that the event will raise over £250,000 for the charity.

The run is one of 230 Races for Life taking place across the country from May to the end of July.

Louise Needham, Hammersmith Event Manager for Race for Life, said: “Race for Life is not a competitive event. It’s about women of all ages, shapes, sizes and fitness
levels coming together to share amazing moments and help beat cancer. They can walk, jog or run the 5k or 10k course and revel in Race for Life’s unique atmosphere of sisterhood.”

Women can also enter by calling 0871 641 1111. An entry fee of £12.99 will be charged to cover organisational and administration costs of the race.
