Hear the Story of British Black Gospel


Author Steve Alexander Smith comes to library

Steve Alexander Smith, author of a recent book called British Black Gospel: The foundations of this vibrant UK sound is visiting Shepherd's Bush Library on Wednesday October 20.

Steve will talk about the emergence of British Black Gospel from the Victorian era to the present vibrant Hip Hop culture.
As in the United States, this musical genre is an important part of black culture in London but yet as remained under the radar of major historians and musicologists. 

Copies of Steve’s unique book, which includes over 100 rare photographs and an accompanying CD, will also be available at a discount price for purchase and signing.

Steve's talk will begin at 6.30pm with doors opening at 6pm.
