Wood Lane Market

Have you visited the new street market in Wood Lane?

The market, which is a short walk away from the new Television Centre and arts venue Elephant West offers cuisines from around the world, including Nigerian and Japanese dishes.

The international food market was launched by H&F Counci as part of its drive to support local entrepreneurs, start-ups and existing businesses looking to grow in H&F.

White City resident and local entrepreneur Tieyan Eweka-Olorunfemi is the founder of Jollof Mama, a Nigerian street food eatery, which trades at the market.

She started her business after graduating from the Tree Shepherd’s Start Your Own Enterprise initiative, which is funded by H&F Council, Hammersmith United Charities and White City Big Local.

"The aim is to eventually open my very own restaurant in the borough. I love H&F," says Tieyan.

Fulham resident Joseph Albitchino and his vegan street food outlet is another popular choice at the new market.

The Whole Shabang Falafel founder, who previously played professional football in Greece for Apollon Athens before suffering a career-ending injury, says he loves the market.

"It was my dream to have my business here on Wood Lane," says Joseph. “I first saw the spot 15 years ago when it was next to a petrol station and now I’m finally here. The area really needed this market."

The council has also launched a new location for traders outside Shepherd's Bush tube station with more on the way across the borough.

H&F Council says the new market is a result of its  Industrial Strategy (pdf 2.6MB) which aims to bring economic prosperity to all residents regardless of their background.

The Wood Lane street food market, on the corner of Wood Lane and South Africa Road runs from Monday to Friday from 8am to 3pm.

For more information on trading in the borough call the Street Market Team on 020 8753 3916 or email streettrading@lbhf.gov.uk.
