Charlotte Le Rougetel reports on Parkrunners' summer successes

Parkrun 161 - July 5

It was a run of two halves at Wormwood Scrubs parkrun this morning, with the heavens well and truly open for the first 1.55 miles and clear skies and a hint of sunshine for the second half of the run.

43 runners joined us this morning, including 13 first timers and five people recorded new PBs - congratulations to all of you. We were also joined by parkrun sponsor Adidas whose representatives were showing off the new Boost trainers and allowing some of our runners to test them out on the very muddy course. Congratulations to Sabine NOEBEL who one a pair of Boost trainers on her first visit to the Scrubs, we hope to see you back soon!

A massive well done to Georgia FEAR who finished first female in 18:36 and set a new course record for Wormwood Scrubs - a fantastic achievement. She also achieved the best age grade score with 82.26%. First male home was Peter L W WOODWARD just 24 seconds earlier in 18:12.
Another congratulations is due today to Matilda FERRAND who ran her 50th parkrun.

Many thanks again to our volunteers Aidan FERRAND, Bradley CAHOON, Charlotte LE ROUGETEL, Martin GILLIES, Rizwan RAUF and Robert FERGUSON. Next week we are still looking for a timekeeper, barcode scanner, run report writer and photographer so please email us if you can involved wormwoodscrubshelpers@parkrun.com.

Parkrun 160 - June 28

Something very strange and a bit special happened at Wormwood Scrubs parkrun this morning - despite the heat and humidity, 10 of our 47 runners secured new PBs. Congratulations to all 10, but special mention to local Thames Valley Harriers club runners Jason SEWARDS, Fraser BRYDSON who broke his 25-minute target and Marion BRYDSON who finally smashed 30 minutes.

First home this week was Yaw Nkrumah MANFO in 19:05; first female to cross the line was Georgina SMEE in 24:16.

Three weeks into our new parkrun year and Rizwan RAUF and Robert FERGUSON are jointly leading the men’s points table with 300 pts each, while last year’s winner - Marion BRYDSON - is heading the female points table with 273 pts.
If you want to know more, you can find today's full results and a complete event history on the Wormwood Scrubs parkrun Results Page.

Thank you to this week's volunteers Aidan FERRAND, Charlotte LE ROUGETEL, Peter GOUGH, Rizwan RAUF and run director Robert FERGUSON. We’re still short of volunteers for next week so if you can help out with any of these roles - run director, time keeper, photographer and finish tokens - please email us at wormwoodscrubshelpers@parkrun.com. You can see the future roster here.

Have a great week and see you next Saturday.
