Learn to Upholster or Upcycle Furniture

Join a workshop at Petit Miracle Interiors in West 12 Centre

Local charity Petit Miracle Interiors, on the first floor of West 12 Shopping Centre is running a series of furniture upcycling workshops throughout the autumn.

On Saturday September 20 there is a Do It Yourself Upholstery Workshop hosted by Lisa Perry Upholstery, offering the chance to earn how to traditionally upholster a drop-in seat, and take home a fabulously reupholstered chair to take home.

Skilles covered include webbing up a frame,  attaching hessian and bridle ties, inserting fibre and attaching calico, wadding and fabric.

Lisa Perry has been teaching upholstery for over 15 years. She is keen to train the next generation of upholsterers and a firm believer of passing on skills.

The workshop is from 11am till 5pm on Saturday and costs £65 per person. Bring along a drop-in seat chair, plus fabric to reupholster it. All other tools and materials provided. If  you do not have a chair, you can purchase one from Petit Miracle Interiors, with prices ranging from £15-£40.

To reserve a spot, sign up at the Petit Miracle Interiors shop, first floor of the West12 centre, Shepherd’s Bush, or send an email to info@petitmiracles.org.uk.

It will be followed by furniture upcycling days, held on the first and second Saturday every month, from 1pm till 4pm. The next workshops will be on October 4 and October 11.

Petit Miracle Interiors say they work in a small group so the session will be tailored to your skill level and experience. In general, you will work on a small item, such as a chair, stool or side table, and you can expect the session to cover the following:

  • minor furniture repairs
  • sanding
  • painting
  • waxing / finishing furniture

The costs of these sessions are £45 per person, including all tools and materials. Please note: if you would like to purchase the item you have worked on, you will be given a discount off of the purchase price. There is also a limited number of spaces offered, at £20, to people who have experienced homelessness, and/or the long-term unemployed.

To reserve a spot, sign up at the Petit Miracle shop, first floor of the West12 centre, Shepherd’s Bush, or book via eventbrite. Any problems email info@petitmiracles.org.uk.
