Owner says club are looking for bigger ground in West London
Queens Park Rangers' owner Tony Fernandes has again confirmed that the club are actively looking for a new home in West London.
Mr Fernandes first mentioned the idea of a move in September, shortly after taking over the club, saying he would be looking for a stadium which could hold 40 - 45,000 people.
QPR's current Loftus Road home has a capacity of just under 19,000, making it the smallest ground in the Premier League and there is little room to expand.
Now Mr Fernandes has said once again that "we would like a bigger ground, and we are looking.
" It has to be in the area. It makes no sense to move out from where you have spent most of your life, and where the fan base is.
" So west London is where we are and where we'd like to be."
Though he didn't mention it this time, Mr Fernandes said in September he already had a site in mind for the new stadium. "The most obvious one would be somewhere in White City," he said. " There are parcels of land around there, some owned by the BBC. Westfield has opened up a lot of potential and we would be looking for a stadium of 40-45,000."
Fernandes added that he did not have major qualms about the prospect of sharing, with West London rivals Chelsea also reported to be keeping an eye out for building plots.
"My first game in Italy was AC Milan v Inter Milan. These are two of the biggest clubs in the world and they share a stadium.
"I'm not saying that we're going to do it but there's nothing that should be not looked at. And there was precedence here; Crystal Palace and Charlton shared at some stage."
This may no longer be a consideration however, with Chelsea confirming they are considering a move from Stamford Bridge to a new home across the river at Battersea Power Station.
