Local Road To Close In New Year

3-day closure ahead of Seven Stars roadworks

A local road will close for three days in the New Year in preparation for major water mains works.

Four traffic islands in Coningham Road have to be removed before Thames Water begins replacing Victorian pipes at the Sevens Stars corner where Goldhawk Road, Askew Road and Paddenswick Road meet.

Coningham Road will be partially closed from 8am on Wednesday January 6 to 6pm on Friday January 8 so that Hammersmith & Fulham Council’s contractors, Conway’s, can carry out the work.

The traffic islands are being removed so that westbound buses will be able to use the road from January 11, as part of a diversion that will be in place during the Thames Water works.

The locations of the islands are at the junction of Goldhawk Road, at the junction of Uxbridge Road, and outside numbers 128–142, and 70-72 Coningham Road.

Access for residents living on Coningham Road and adjoining streets will be maintained at all times.

During the work at Seven Stars corner, which begins on 11 January 2010, five old cast iron pipes at the roundabouts will be replaced with three much larger plastic ones.

Temporary traffic lights will keep traffic flowing as smoothly as possible. Coningham Road will be open one-way northbound, and the 94 and 237 buses will use this route, so that services carry on running during the works, which are due to last for nine weeks.

Greenside Road will be closed to traffic at the junction with Goldhawk Road, and part of the westbound lane on Goldhawk Road, from Brading Terrace to Paddenswick Road, will be closed with a diversion in place via Uxbridge Road and Askew Road. Goldhawk Road will be open as usual for eastbound traffic.
