W12 is Top of the Pops

Shepherd's Bush comes first in rock star survey

Shepherd's Bush is home to more rock stars than anywhere else in the country, according to a new survey.

A poll carried out by the toy guitar website, guitarrockstar.co.uk, found that Shepherd’s Bush had produced more rock stars per head of the population than any other place in the UK - 1 in 1,222.

The website looked at where more than 500 of the UK's most successful rock artists and band members, from the 1950s to the present day, were born and brought up.

Members of The Who, the Sex Pistols and The Clash all grew up in the area and ex-Libertines and Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty has also spent time in W12.

Manchester, home of Oasis, Morrissey, the Stone Roses and Joy Division, came top of the survey in terms of proportion of the population.
