Plans to Revive Old Laundry Site Given Green Light

Site next to Shepherd's Bush Market to become temporary community hub

Proposals to create a temporary community hub in the Old Laundry Site at Shepherd's Bush Market have been given the go ahead by Hammersmith and Fulham Council.

The scheme, planned by developers U+I plc will use existing containers on site for affordable co-working space to be made available to local start-ups, small businesses and arts groups.

The remaining space will be for food and beverage pop-up stalls and community space.

The Old Laundry Site sits between Shepherd's Bush Market and Pennard Road and has been unused for many years.

The approved planning applications is as follows:

Temporary use of the site and existing shipping containers for a period of up to 2 years as a creative affordable workspace centre (Class B1 use) (46 containers), with ancillary Class A3/A4/A5 food and beverage area (8 containers) with outdoor events space, Class D1 community use (7 containers), Class Sui Generis use for associated storage space (7 containers), bicycle storage (4 containers), toilets (2 units) and a fridge unit (1 unit) and the provision of an outdoor events space at ground floor level, hard and soft landscaping; with new pedestrian access route from Goldhawk Road.

The project is due for completion in spring 2018.
