Zone J Residents Vote for No Change to Parking Rules

Range of options offered in autumn consultation

Shepherds Bush residents have voted not to change parking controls following a consultation in October.

Residents and business owners in Zone J, which includes Queen’s Park Rangers’ home ground Loftus Road, were consulted in autumn on whether they wanted to see changes to current parking controls.

They were also asked by Hammersmith and Fulham Council if they supported a parking scheme, which provides priority parking for residents and their visitors on football match days.

Residents were given a range of parking options to choose from, including the match-day scheme which was suggested after complaints from some residents that they could not park when QPR played at home.

However, the majority of people who responded – 68 per cent – said they thought the controls were working well and needed no change, with 54 per cent of people voting against the introduction of match-day parking regulations.

Hammersmith & Fulham Council’s cabinet member for environment and deputy leader, Cllr Nicholas Botterill, said:  " We have been constantly working with residents to help ease parking problems in the area, especially over the last few years with the opening of Westfield. We have acted on residents' concerns by carrying out this recent consultation and the results speak for themselves.

"People do not want any parking controls in the area to change and so everything will stay as it is."
