Plans for Shepherd's Bush Walkabout Site Further Revised

Public invited to view them at new public exhibition this Thursday

Dorsett Hospitality International, the company behind local hotel Dorsett Shepherd's Bush says that, following the recent public exhibition in January of revised plans for the adjacent 'Walkabout' site, further design revisions have been made in response to the comments received.

The site, at 57 Shepherd's Bush Green is so called because it was the former home of the iconic Walkabout pub.

Dorsett says that so that the revised designs can be viewed and commented on further, it has arranged a further public exhibition at Dorsett Shepherd's Bush, 58 Shepherd's Bush Green this Thursday February 25, from 4pm to 8pm.

The revised proposals have been designed by Flanagan Lawrence Architects who were responsible for the award-winning restoration of the Dorsett Hotel.

Members of Dorsett’s professional team will be on hand at the Public Exhibition to explain the design revisions and to answer your questions.

The revised plans come after a previous application for a 16 storey high tower on the site of iconic Walkabout pub was refused by Hammersmith and Fulham Council after opposition from residents and organisations including the Hammersmith Society.

The main points from the revised proposals to date are:

  • There will be no tower
  • The building will be considerably lower at the front and rear than the previous proposal
  • Retaining parts of the existing building, mainly the facades
  • There will be a cinema in the basement
  • The building will be lower at the rear facing Pennard Road

The new building will be an extension to the existing hotel and the ground floor will provide additional hotel restaurant space.

The project has also sparked a discussion on our forum and you can join the talk and give your views here.
