Take Your Great Ideas to Spacehive Event on Tuesday

Learn how to put forward projects that will better your community

Residents of Shepherd's Bush are being invited to an 'ideas event' on Tuesday August 9 to learn how to put forward potential projects that will better their community, but need funding.

Spacehive

Spacehive is a crowdfunding website which helps people who might not know how or where to find funding for a great idea, or how to plan it.

It launches in Hammersmith & Fulham with the event in White City Community Centre in India Way from 6pm till 8pm on Tuesday August 9.

Through the website, individuals or groups in H&F can bring forward their ideas and projects and visitors to the site can offer support and actually help fund them so ideas become a reality.

Projects could be anything from funding community festivals, improvements to parks and playgrounds and high street projects to support local businesses.

Previous Spacehive projects from around the UK have varied in cost from hundreds to tens of thousands of pounds. The average value of a Spacehive project is £26,500.

Visitors can get information on how to put together a strong crowdfunding campaign as well as getting support and advice from Spacehive.

To book a place, either register online or email Beth.Morgan@lbhf.gov.uk.

" The H&F Spacehive provides a great platform for residents with innovative and creative ideas but no money to make them happen," says Cllr Sue Fennimore, H&F Cabinet Member for Social Inclusion.

" I would encourage anyone with a project in mind to come to the ideas event this month and share it.

" Securing funding, particularly from corporations and councils, might be quite daunting for some people, so we support Spacehive as another route people can use to take all-important first step, independently of the council."
