Updated plans for the redevelopment of BBC Television Centre are being revealed to Shepherd's Bush residents in a series of public exhibitions taking place by the main gate of the centre on Wood Lane.

The exhibitions, being held by the BBC along with development company Stanhope, part of a consortium which paid £200 million for a long lease on the iconic building in July last year, will be on Tuesday April 29, Wednesday April 30 and Thursday May 1, all from 4pm till 8pm.

The exhibitions are being held by Stanhope and the BBC and show off improvements to original plans which were approved by H& F Council in December.

The plans will open up and transform Television Centre into a mixed use development including office and studio space for the BBC, complementary entertainment and leisure facilities, public open space, offices, housing and a hotel.

They say that for the first time, Television Centre will be opened up to the public and the famous forecourt remodelled and enlivened by new retail, leisure and entertainment uses and access through the site providing connectivity with the local area, including Hammersmith Park.

Part of Television Centre is already being refurbished to create a new headquarters for BBC Worldwide, with staff due to move in early next year.

Studios 1 to 3 will also be refurbished throughout 2014, to be operated by BBC Studios and Post Production from April 2015.

At that stage, major construction will start on new entertainment and leisure facilities, public open space, offices, housing and a boutique hotel, along with new pedestrian routes through to Hammersmith Park and beyond. The plans include a media business hub, around 1,000 new homes, a cinema, gym, restaurants and cafes.

You can read more about the plans on the Television Centre website.
