Princess Victoria's Patsy Praised after Winning Award

Uxbridge Road manager commended for "creating a unique venue"

Popular local publican Patsy Griffin has been praised after her  pub The Princess Victoria in Uxbridge Road was Highly Commended in the Best Wine Bar/Pub category, at the Great British Pub Awards 2014.

Joy Jones, Regional Manager with Enterprise Inns' which owns the pub, says: " Since taking on The Princess Victoria, Patsy has shown great determination to make it a success, and this commendation is testament to six years’ hard work creating a unique venue."

The Princess Victoria is a food led pub serving an eclectic clientele able to choose from a 275-strong wine list, and who are looked after by chatty, friendly staff trained in-house.

Judges said well-kept wines and an attention to detail  "give this pub an edge" . They were also impressed by the pub’s own wine shop, enabling customers to buy bottles to take home, or to drink with evening meals on Mondays.

Patsy has been general manager at the Princess Victoria for the past six years and has seen it enjoying steady growth. It's known for its range of gins and as an excellent wedding and party venue as well as its community involvement.

Earlier this year it hosted its first Pork Pie Off, with top chefs battling to produce the best pie. It proved a huge success, raising over £500 for Action Against Hunger and the pub is now planning to repeat the challenge in 2015.

Organised by leading industry publication the Publican’s Morning Advertiser, the awards celebrate the best of Britain’s pubs across 17 categories.

Patsy received her commendation from Sky Sports F1 presenter Natalie Pinkham, at a ceremony at London’s Hilton Hotel on Park Lane attended by leading pub industry figures.

She said: "Ours is a pub with a difference, offering a combination of things – from wine shop to wedding venue – that not many other pubs can. Our customers come from all walks of life, and we want to be able to offer something that all of them can enjoy."
