Hammersmith MP Andy Slaughter has thanked supporters and after being been re-elected in the General Election with an increased majority.

On his website, he says: "I am grateful beyond words for the trust and confidence shown by the election result on Thursday. I will do my best to live up to the high expectations placed on me.

"In particular, I will renew the battles that formed the heart of the campaign. Against a Hard Brexit. For Charing Cross Hospital and our NHS.

"It was a remarkable night for Labour. The swing of over 11% in Hammersmith was one of the highest in the country, with the majority rising to over 18,000 and vote share to 64%.

"West London as a whole saw outstanding success for Labour candidates, topped last night by Emma Dent Coad’s election as the first ever Labour MP for Kensington.

"But this is still a very divided country, and now with a weak Government that is looking to the politically-extreme Democratic Unionist Party to cling onto power.

"A special thanks must go to the hundreds of volunteers who came from across the constituency, and across the country, to help in my campaign. I was humbled by the level of support I received, and am truly grateful to those who took time out of their lives to knock on doors, make telephone calls and help in the office.

"I will continue to work hard for all residents in the constituency, whether you voted for me or not. I will always be available to help.

"Again, thank you for your support and trust."
