Two men have been arrested after being stopped on First Avenue near Old Oak Road.

They were detained after officers from the Violent Crime Taskforce [VCTF] noticed a passenger on a moped not wearing a helmet while riding along First Avenue at 4pm on Tuesday, 27 October

The area, which is Acton close to the border with Shepherd’s Bush, is known for moped robberies according to the police.

Officers stopped the moped on First Avenue and detained the rider and the pillion passenger. They were males aged 23 and 19.

During the subsequent search police found Class B drugs and mobile phones with texts that discussed the supply of Class A and B drugs on both men.

They were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis and involvement in the supply of Class A drugs.

Subsequent searches at one of the home addresses revealed suspected ecstasy and MDMA – the substances await testing.

The two suspects remain in police custody.

Detective Inspector Domenica Catino of the VCTF said, “Our officers are patrolling in areas known for violence and drugs and are actively seeking to target those who cause harm and distress in our community.

“Thanks to the use of stop and search, we have taken a significant amount of drugs off the streets and prevented them from fuelling associated violence.”
