Green delivery service Parcels not Pollution, which was launched last autumn in Hammersmith has been expanded to cover Shepherd's Bush town centre.

The service uses an e-cargo electric bike for the final leg of deliveries to local businesses from a warehouse in Ladbroke Grove.

The service, led by Hammersmith BID in partnership with Transport for London and H&F Council, has proved extremely popular, clocking up around 600 deliveries since starting in September.

The deliveries have typically included more than one parcel, meaning more than 1,000 return trips by polluting delivery vehicles, such as diesel vans, have been taken out of Hammersmith town centre thanks to the scheme.

Now the service has extended to Shepherd’s Bush, with delivery hours also increasing by two hours, running from 8am to 6pm, Monday-Friday.

So far, more than 50 local businesses have signed up, including National Geographic and LAMDA. The Lyric Theatre was among the first to sign-up to the service and since has used it for around 70% of their day-to-day deliveries.

Parcels not Pollution is also working with Hammersmith and Fulham Foodbank, picking up donations from businesses and libraries in the borough and delivering them to their depot.

" Delivery journeys account for a vast amount of the traffic on our streets, so it’s brilliant that local businesses have been quick to adopt our pollution-free alternative," said Cllr Wesley Harcourt, H&F Cabinet Member for Environment, pictured above at the service's launch.

"Everyone wants to do their bit to help the environment, and while some changes take time and effort, this is probably the easiest way for borough businesses to make a tangible difference."

Using the service is simple. Businesses sign-up to the scheme and just change the delivery address from their own, to the Parcels not Pollution freight hub run by e-cargo bikes.
