Free month's trial offered for both businesses and residents
Grants may be available to help fund purchases
Hounslow Council is relaunching its e-cargo Try Before you Bike scheme.
Within this scheme, local businesses or residents can trial an e-cargo bike free for one month. At the end of the month, you can either return it or work towards owning it through monthly instalments or purchasing it at a discounted price.
An e-cargo bike is an electric pedal-assisted bike with storage space on it which can hold up to 100kg.
The scheme is run by Peddle My Wheels in partnership with the council funding the free one month trials. The scheme is available to those who live, work or study in Hounslow.
Grants may also be available to help fund the purchase of the bikes which can cost several thousand pounds to buy.
The scheme is part of efforts by the council to reach the Mayor of London’s intended goal of 80% use of sustainable travel by 2041. It is also conducting a survey to assess whether an electric cargo (e-cargo) bike would be beneficial for residents. It wishes to collect data to help promote and maintain e-cargo bike usage on a long-term basis. This survey will close on the 9 July 2022.
More details about the scheme and information about signing up is available on the Peddle My Wheels web site.
