Council Wants Your Views on PlayZones
Working with Brentford FC and The Football Foundation to expand provision

Hounslow Council is planning to increase the number of sports and activity spaces in the borough to encourage both adults and children to be more active.
Working with Brentford FC Community Sports Trust and The Football Foundation, a charity helping communities improve their local football facilities, the council is asking residents to share where in the borough they want sports spaces, how they want to use them and what sports they like to play.
Based on the response to a short survey which must be completed by 31 January, the council will develop further plans for PlayZones. These are safe and accessible outdoor facilities that can host football as well as other sports such as netball, cricket, basketball and rugby. These 30m x 20m activity spaces will be available for use day and night, all year round. The PlayZones programme aims to create over 240 PlayZones in England by 2025.
The council wants to hear from those who might not have traditionally had a chance to get involved in sport particularly people from lower incomes, women and girls, people with disabilities or long-term conditions and ethnically diverse communities.
Councillor Salman Shaheen, Cabinet Member for Recreation, Public Spaces and Parking, said, “I am delighted to work with Brentford FC and partners to deliver these new PlayZones, which promise safe and inclusive sports facilities and pitches for the good of our community.
"The transformative power of sport is vital to improving the health of our borough, especially in the wake of COVID, and it is crucial that these opportunities are open to all.
“I would encourage residents, including local children, to let us know what sports they’d like to play and where, by completing this short survey.”
