Shepherd's Bush pair win National Drugs Award
Two members of the Shepherd's Bush Safer Neighbourhoods Team have had their work recognised by the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO).
PS Finbar King and PC Bob Gleave both won the ACPO National Drugs Award for their innovative approach to closing down crack houses.
The pair, who received the prestigious prize at an award ceremony in Bristol last Monday, have worked in close partnership with the local authority to close six crack houses in the past 12 months. Jonathan Shaw from Hammersmith & Fulham Council was also recognised for his contribution
Borough Commander for Hammersmith & Fulham Police, Chief Superintendent Kevin Hurley said: "I am delighted to see the contributions of these officers being recognised alongside their local authority colleague.
"Whilst these officers have performed outstandingly, they were keen to say that many other members of the team at Hammersmith and Fulham have played a part in winning this award and more important, locking up drug dealers."
Officers working alongside their team have also carried out a number of other initiatives, targeting drug dealers and anti-social behaviour.
According to the Police, the borough of Hammersmith and Fulham closes 5% of all crack houses in England and Wales.
