Carole Waugh Found Dead Following Westfield Arrests

Women in Westfield CCTV images remain on bail

Missing woman Carole Waugh has been found stabbed to death in South Malden in Surrey, just days after the arrests of two women who were photographed on CCTV in Westfield shopping centre in Shepherd's Bush on Friday July 13.

Police circulated the CCTV images of the two women saying they would like to speak to them in connection with their investigation, and adding that bank cards belonging to Ms Waugh, who at that point had been missing for nearly three months, had been used in the shopping centre.

On July 24, police announced that the women, aged  58 and 60 had been arrested and taken to separate police stations for questioning. They were subsequently bailed pending further iinvestigations.

Three men were also bailed, while a fourth, Rakesh Bhayani from Wembley was charged with three counts of conspiracy to commit fraud by false representation. Police said the charges related to transactions associated with Ms Waugh's identity worth around £280,000.

On August 1, Nicholas Kutner, 47 was arrested on suspicion of Ms Waugh's kidnap and murder as he flew into Luton Airport from a family holiday in Majorca.  Ms Waugh's body was discovered the next day with a single stab wound inside a car in a lockup garage in New Malden.

Kutner has since appeared in court charged with four counts of conspiracy to commit fraud.

He is accused of pretending to be Waugh's brother, Chris, in a bid to sell her London home, and also faces two charges relating to renting her property in Marylebone, central London, and a fourth of unlawfully withdrawing funds from her bank account.

He was remanded in custody and will next appear at Southwark Crown Court on August 13.

It is not yet known if Kutner, of no fixed abode, is an associate of the two women who were photographed at Westfield.
