An 18-year-old man from Shepherd’s Bush has appeared in custody the Old Bailey charged with murder and attempted murder.

Hamza El Chgar of St Elmo Road, W12 is accused, along with 19-year-old Christian Peterkin of no fixed abode, of stabbing 21-year-old Oman Abdullah to death and the attempted murder of a 20-year-old man. They were both arrested on Wednesday, 6 December at Heathrow Airport.

The pair initially appeared at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 8 December and were further remanded in custody until a hearing this Monday (12 December).

Omar Abdullah was found in a stairwell in Gayhurst House on Mallory Street, Marylebone on the afternoon of 28 November. He had been stabbed and, despite the efforts of paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been notified and are being supported by specialist officers.

The second victim had suffered knife injuries to the neck and was taken to hospital and he continues to receive treatment.
