Spring Brings Perfect Conditions on Wormwood Scrubs

Charlotte Le Rougetel reports on this weekend's Parkrun

The weather was glorious on Wormwood Scrubs this morning. The sun was shining and there was enough breeze to keep the runners cool and blow away the cobwebs from the working week. With the majority of the course now dried up and just one bog remaining, most agreed we enjoyed almost perfect running conditions.

The weather also brought out a good crowd with a total of 39 runners, including three first timers. Run director Martin Gillies treated us to a flash of his legs as he joined the runners for the first time in months handing back run director duties for the day to Rob Ferguson. A big thank you to all of our other volunteers - Rizwan Rauf, Garnet Walters, Martin Gillies, Marion Brydson and Andrea Broughton. The event can only take place each week thanks to our volunteers so if you can help out please get in touch.

This week's race winner was Simon Hill who was also the first male to cross the finish line in 19:44. Our first female this week was Gemma Carter with a time of 21:55.

There were 9 PBs - congratulations to you all. And congratulations to first-timer Katinka Newman and Scrubs regular Tim Barlow for completing the Hastings Half Marathon last weekend.

See you all next weekend.
