Local team reach quarter finals of Middlesex County Cup

Sunday League team Shepherd's Bush United have followed their victory over Maro FC witnessed by none other than David Beckham with another win which takes them through to the quarter finals of the Middlesex County Cup.

Shepherd's Bush progressed into the last eight of the Middlesex County Cup but left it late after an earlier defensive horror show.

Three soft goals given away in the first half and the mood was only lightened with a Scott Brown free kick to make it 3-1 down at half time.

With Shepherd's Bush still trailing but putting the pressure on in the second half, gaffer Scot MacFarlane, who came on due to injuries fired into the top corner goal to make it 3-2 after holding off a defender.

With seconds remaining before Bush went crashing out of the competition Captain James Freeman slammed in a Scott Brown free kick to make it 3-3.

Into extra time and The Bush were now well on top and had the momentum, it wasn't long before they had James O'Callaghan and an own goal to thank for a 5-3 lead and this was made 6-3 when Micheal Matier got in on the act with the last kick of the game.

The Mighty Bush now meet Ac Richmond in the Quarter Finals.

At the team's previous game, David Beckham dropped in unannounced to watch the team beating their rivals by three goals to one.

After the match, he posed for pictures with the team, who later thanked him by sending a tweet to his wife Victoria, which read: 'thanks to ur husband for making our players day today with a photo! incredible!'.
