Jackie Malton, the unexpected Star of Dark Son - The Hunt For a Serial Killer is appearing on BBC Breakfast TV tomorrow morning to talk about "The Real Prime Suspect" coming soon on CBS Reality. Jackie expects to be on T.V. between 8.40 am and 9.15 am. Jackie, a former Detective Chief Inspector at Scotland Yard played a pivotal role in Dark Son which was aired on B.B.C. Wales and B.B.C. 4 earlier this year trying to ascertain whether Abertillery born Harold Jones was the culprit responsible for the murder of 8 women in the Hammersmith district of London between 1959 and 1965. Scotland Yard are into the 8th month of gathering information and records before deciding whether to review the unsolved London murders.

My sincere thanks for letting me join, especially as I am conspicuously NOT from Shepherds Bush, being a Scotsman less than a day's drive from John O' Groats! I am a serious amateur fan of ''Doctor Who'' and I am attempting to collect any reminiscences of the very first Dalek publicity stunt, held on the 23rd December 1963 around Shepherds Bush. Alas I do not have access to all of the photographs taken, but I do have three - a pair of Daleks holding a cabbage at a market-stall and two showing Daleks attempting to board a bus to Hayes End.A kind Londoner let me know that the bus station was on Shepherds Bush Green near the old BBC Empire and I am fairly sure that it is the station designated ''Stop P'' on Google Maps, presently opposite a Chinese dim-sum restaurant called Shikumen. I would be extremely grateful if you could please let me know if anyone has reminiscences or recollections about this photo-shoot - after all, the Daleks themselves had not yet appeared in full on the small screen [they would do so five days later in the second episode of the first Dalek serial], so it must have been quite perplexing to see these strange inhuman things!Anything else Dalek related from the '60s is very welcome.Letters & so on should be addressed 7 Clunie Crescent, Dornoch, Sutherland, Scotland IV25 3NH. Successful men’s football team looking for new members

Chiswick based Polytechnic FC have started pre-season training and are always looking out for new members. The club fields 8 Saturday men’s sides (1st XI to 8th XI) as well as a Saturday Vets team as well as a strollers team. The club have been one of the most successful amateur clubs within the league and the area in the last several seasons with the 1st XI being crowned League Champions three of the past four seasons as well as winning numerous cups. Other sides have also been successful with league and cup wins making it one of the most successful periods in the clubs history. Players of all abilities welcome, the club boast some of the best playing facilities within the league. Training takes place at Chiswick Cricket Club, Riverside Drive, W4 2SP, every Monday and Thursday through August, 7pm start. All welcome to attend. Old Oak Common Overground Station

The item published on this site about the West London Orbital route plan raises more questions than it answers. Most importantly it was just last week that we were informed that the Old Oak Common Overground station was unlikely to ever be built because of funding constraints.Now TfL and Ealing Council are claiming progress on the orbital line plan but it would be completely pointless if there was no station at Old Oak Common and no link to Crossrail/HS2. This seems to be them just writing their Christmas card list rather than an actual plan as funding just isn't available for this project and isn't likely to be even if we don't wilfully crash our economy to leave the EU.

Potential stray white cat spotted - Davisville Road

I spotted an all white cat roaming around Davisville Road W12.  Very timid.  Dusty and a bit grubby.  Small scratch on its nose but otherwise looked ok health wise.  It wouldn't come to me, but I put some biscuits down which it devoured.  So I put a bowl of wet food down which it also devoured.  Then it carried off down the road.  I have photos I can email.

MURIEL DRINKWATER MURDER.

After 12 years of frustration regarding attempting to prove or disprove whether former Hammersmith, Putney and Fulham double child killer Harold Jones murdered 11 year-old Muriel Drinkwater in Swansea in 1946, there is now light at the end of the tunnel. In July 2018 I was informed by South Wales Police that for the sake of the people of South Wales and for the family of Muriel, forensic opportunities were being sought to link Jones to her murder or to clear him. Yesterday I was informed: "To reassure you, certain forensic work is being progressed to seek to determine if there is a forensic link between the Murder of Muriel and Harold Jones (or not).Frustratingly, this is a process that cannot be completed quickly.The timescales to complete this comparison are unknown but I hope to have an answer in the next 4-6 weeks."

Dog spotted - little black dog on Wood Lane/Scrubs Lane

I was cycling from Shepherds Bush Green up Wood Lane this morning at around 08:40 this morning, and there was a small black dog weaving through traffic beelining down Wood Lane/Scrubs Lane. Looked like a long haired Chihuahua or similar? Mainly black, with a pink harness on.It looked scared and was running across lanes, I tried to catch up with it but couldn't get ahead of it, and I saw it evade quite a few pedestrians who were also trying to stop it, presumably to check the collar.I hope the owner gets reunited soon, it had quite obviously ran off from someone, I assume quite recently.

Further to the B.B.C. 4 documentary Dark Son - The Hunt for a Serial Killer being broadcast nationally at 9.00 pm on Tuesday February 12.  South Wales Police are actively pursuing forensic opportunities to link Abertillery-born Jones to the murder of 12 year-old Swansea school-girl Muriel Joan Drinkwater, 3 months after he left the army in 1946. A third cold-case team are actively researching Jones' possible involvement in the murder of Ignac Ulycz in Putney in August 1965. See information below from my book "Who Was Jack the Stripper? The Hammersmith Nudes' Murders."(At 10.45 pm on Sunday 15 August 1965, Mr Ignac Ulycz was fatally stabbed outside his own front gate at 323 Upper Richmond Road Putney...........Maddalena Ulycz told the police the assailant was between 50 and 60 years old. (Jones was 59.) Another witness said that the attacker had run around the corner into Colinette Road and just seemed to vanish into thin air. (Jones had been living in 20 Colinette Road.)The Wandsworth Boro' News of Friday 24 September 1965 reported on the inquest into the death of Mr Ulycz.........."The man who killed Mr Ulycz........may have been insane or a psychopath who every now and again feels the desire to attack someone in this way" suggests the Coroner Mr Gavin Thurston.)The fact has now emerged that Jones was living at 20 Colinette Road Putney using the name Harry Stevens while AT THE SAME TIME registered as living at 51 Aldensley Road Hammersmith under the name Harry Jones.

The Last 5 Years - A Musical

Its called The Last 5 Years, it tells the story of a couple who get together and break up over the course of five years. The interesting thing about it is that their stories are told in opposite directions, so Jamie starts the show at the beginning of the relationship and Cathy starts at the end and they switch over, meeting once in the middle. Does anyone by any chance have a copy of the 1989 True Detective Winter Special? I am particularly interested in the content on page 35. Master Detective, part of the True Detective Group refuse to send me a scan of what is published on page 35 but they have forwarded me a scan of the front and inside page stating that a story on page 35 deals with former Hammersmith, Fulham and Putney child killer Harold Jones. They won't send me the scan because they have stolen photographs that I own copyright of and they have used them in the August 2018 edition of Master Detective. They have scanned about 12 of my photos directly from my book Every Mother's Nightmare - Abertillery in Mourning to use in the August edition. Lidl?

So, what are your thoughts on the new Shepherd's Bush Lidl? Frankly, I think it's rather a disappointment. Too small, lacking in services (ie ATMs), and not a patch on the former occupants. I doubt I'll do a weekend shop there and will instead stick with Tesco Brook Green and an occasional trip to Morrisons in Acton.I'm glad that some of the space has been taken up by a retailer. But Lidl doesn't feel like an adequate enough supermarket to service a well-established - as well as a new - clientele.Previously, Presto had the space as Lidl, then Safeway took over and expanded it and Morrisons shoe horned into that space. It's a pity another supermarket couldn't have taken up the baton after Morrisons, but perhaps the rent would have been to high.

Did the world cup inspired you? If so the Polytechnic Football Club based in Chiswick are about to start Pre-season training. The club boast superb facilities and has had a very successful last few seasons with the 1st XI being crowned League Champions for the 3rd successive season. Playing in the Southern Amateur League the club fields 8 XI's on a Saturday as well a successful Veterans team and a Strollers side, so it caters for all standards. A friend has just told me that Jeremy Corbyn turned up at the Raven pub to watch the World Cup game between England and Belgium — the only one that we lost. I'm not superstitious or anything but it is certain that if he returns for the Croatia game that would doom England to another defeat. He should be barred at the door if he tries to get in. Dogs in Taxis

Does anyone know of a local taxi firm who will take a dog in their cars? The dog would be in a carry case. Alternatively, does anyone have experience with Uber drivers and carrying dogs. I have looked at their T&Cs and it seems to be down to driver discretion but would be interested to know what are the chances of any given driver being okay with it?

Steaks from Lidl

I've started getting my steaks from the Lidl  in the  W12 centre where they are excellent value. However, if I follow the instructions on the packaging they turn out to be very disappointing. They say cook on a medium heat for much longer than I generally would cook steaks. The outcome is a very grey looking piece of meat. Normally I cook for a much shorter time on a griddle on a high heat. Should I just do this for Lidl steaks or are they different in someway from steaks you'd buy elsewhere?

Memorial Service.

On Saturday 4 August 2018 at 2.00pm, a memorial service is being held in the Metropole Theatre, Abertillery, South Wales for two Abertillery murder victims, 8 year-old Freda Burnell and 11 year-old Florence Little who were killed in Abertillery in 1921.Their killer, Harold Jones a.k.a Harry Stevens lived in Fulham, Putney and Hammersmith between 1946 and 1971 when he died. With a choir and town band performing at the memorial service there is expected to be over 250 people attending. There will be an expected 50 members of the 2 girls' family members attending from various parts of Britain. After the service there will be a re-dedication of the 2 girls' memorials at Brynithel Cemetery.Over the past 7 months, myself, Councillors Gill Clark and Julie Holt have raised nearly £3,400.00 towards the cost of restoring the 2 dilapidated memorials. We are still about £200 short of paying the memorial mason who has done the work at cost price and about £300 short of printing 260 memorial service programmes. These will consist of 8 pages each.We have now been given a donation to book the Metropole Theatre for the event.
