Singer songwriter delights crowds as she launches Shepherd's Bush Christmas festivities

American singer songwriter Taylor Swift set Westfield shopping centre alight on Tuesday evening as she switched on the Christmas lights and performed three of her hits before thousands of screaming fans.

Dressed in festive red, the 22-year-old performed three of her singles including We are Never Getting Back Together from her new album, appropriately named Red.

Westfield reported on the event, tweeting that Taylor looked "amazing" then saying: "Taylor Swift just turned on our lights! The whole Atrium is screaming."

Grant Mickelson, guitarist in Taylor's band The Agency, provided his own commentary on the event, tweeting: "Hi Westfield London! We came all the way from the USA 2 turn your lights 2 the "on" position. wish U a Happy Hollady and rock your face off!"

After the event he added: " Thx 4 letting us light U up w/Christmas Pyro tonight, Westfield London. You're truly the nicest mall I've eve seen, w/the nicest fans too!"

Grant also took his own Twitpic of the scene within the Atrium>

Before the big switch-on, Myf Ryan, Westfield’s General Manager, Marketing UK said: " The Christmas lights switch-on is one of the highlights of the festive calendar and we are incredibly excited that Taylor Swift is launching Christmas for us at Westfield London.

Taylor is the latest A-list star to switch on Westfield's Christmas lights. Since the centre opened in 2008, the seasonal duty has been carried out by including Mariah Carey in 2009, Rihanna in 2010 and Justin Bieber in 2011.

The switch on ceremony has become the traditional start of a season of celebrations at Westfield. It will be followed by the opening of the centre's ice skating rink and grotto on November 22. You can read all the details here.
