Local man sold drugs from his W12 home
A Shepherd's Bush man has been sentenced to four years imprisonment after being convicted of supplying Class A Drugs from his Askew Crescent home.
49-year-old Andrew Charles supplied drugs from an outbuilding within the grounds of his house. Police say drug addicts would congregate in the alleyway of Becklow Gardens at all hours of the day and night and engage in anti-social behaviour while on their way to buy drugs.
They would then hand over cash in exchange for the drugs, through a specially designed hatch which Charles had built.
Police say they mounted an operation against Charles and his associates after neighbours complained repeatedly to the police and the council about drug dealing in the area.
An investigation carried out by Hammersmith & Fulham Drug Squad ran for several weeks, until sufficient evidence of drugs supply had been gathered.
Andrew Charles was found guilty at Blackfriars Crown Court on Friday November 27 and a confiscation investigation is now underway which will see Charles stripped of all the assets he gained through drug dealing.
DS Rogers from the Hammersmith & Fulham Drug Squad commented: "This is an excellent result which shows how committed we are to tackling drugs in this borough. Over a period of time, Andrew Charles and his family created fear among the local residents, claiming they were untouchable. Our proactive approach to this problem has without doubt restored quality of life to the local residents. We will continue to join forces with the Payback Unit, Local Authority & Benefit Fraud Team in the battle to disrupt and remove drug dealers from this borough."
